Biblical Standard

The beliefs and doctrine of the Christian Reformed Church are based on the Holy Bible, God's infallible written Word contained in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

Doctrinal Standards

The Christian Reformed Church subscribes to the following confessions:

Ecumenical Creeds*

Positions

Over time, the Christian Reformed Church has clearly stated its position on a variety of contemporary topics.

* Article 9 of the Belgic Confession names three writings, dating from the first centuries of the Christian church, that we willingly accept as creeds: the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. The adoption of the Belgic Confession by the synods of the Reformed churches in the Netherlands during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries implicitly approved the three creeds mentioned above. They are called ecumenical (general, universal) because they have been approved and accepted by nearly all Christian churches.
