SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday school at Bozeman Christian Reformed Church meets at 9:05 AM from September through May in the Lighthouse.  We welcome all children ages four through high school to join us each week as we encourage each child to know, love and serve God, while participating in a dynamic, relevant program.

Preschool

Our preschool class is a fun, lively, and age appropriate introduction to the Bible. Lessons are fast paced with music, arts and crafts and dramatic play activities that are sure to keep your child’s attention.  We do understand that this may be your child’s first introduction to learning away from home, and they might be a bit shy or nervous.  That is ok! We encourage parents to stay and help your child become acquainted with our class, or if your child prefers to just watch for awhile, that is ok too. We are certain that it won’t be long before your child is laughing and smiling with the rest of their class.

Kid Connection (K-6th grade)

Our Kindergarten through 6th grade kids participates in a “one room school house” type of environment, using the Kid Connection curriculum from Faith Alive. We meet as a large group to praise God and experience the weekly bible story, and then we break into two smaller groups (K-3 & 4-6) to connect with leaders and peers and dive deeper into the weekly lesson.

Why are we so excited about Kid Connection?

  • Faith - Lessons are designed to grow faith as kids (and leaders) take one step closer to God each week.
  • Diversity - God’s diverse family is worth celebrating! The lessons encourage kids to learn about, love and appreciate all people in God’s family.
  • Community - Kids want to belong—we think church is a pretty important place to know you’re always welcome! Each lesson provides time for kids and leaders to build relationships in a loving, accepting and safe mini-community called a small group.
  • Fun! - Kids should LOVE to come to church! Kid Connection inserts fun without distorting the message to create a learning atmosphere kids can’t resist!

Middle School (7th & 8 grade)

Our middle school group uses the Walk with Me middle school curriculum, which as been developed to meet both the challenges and opportunities that go along with this age group.  This class is more of a small group bible study than a traditional Sunday School class, where their leader leads group discussions to help the kids learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus, and helps them prepare for the challenges they will face in their everyday lives.  Currently we are studying the “I Believe” material which introduces the kids to the Heidelberg Catechism and what it means to be Christian Reformed.

High School

Our high school aged kids are involved as junior leaders with both our Preschool and Kid Connection program.  They are involved with the development and planning of weekly lessons, and participate in leading music, large group activities, and mentor younger children during their small group time.  In addition to the junior leader program, our high school students have the opportunity to participate in catechism studies, as well as group discussions about topics relevant to their age group, while learning the importance of serving in our church.

Offering /Service Project

Our Sunday School kids have sponsored Emily, a little girl from Mexico, through World Vision.  We collect an offering each week to cover our sponsorship donation, and we are learning about how to share God’s love with others in need.  This program includes writing letters, sending small gifts, and prayer for Emily and her community.  This is a great opportunity for our kids to be part of something that is easy for them to identify with, and is something that our kids are very excited about.

Volunteer Opportunities

We can always use more volunteers!  If you have a passion for kids, and a love for the LORD, we would welcome you to join our team.  Talk to Millie Veltkamp for more information on current opportunities.Adult Volunteers (any person over the age of 18) must always be present in the Sunday School classrooms. They are required to complete training, acknowledge understanding of the policies and procedures, and are subject to a background check.

Sunday School Superintendent:  Millie Veltkamp, 388-6337
