ALIENS

MIDDLE SCHOOL/JUNIOR HIGH

YOUTH GROUP

GRADES 6TH - 8TH

Adolescents Living In Eager New Service

"ALIENS" is a middle school/junior high youth group  in which we work at creating a place for the youth to have a safe place to come and learn more about God's love.  We host a yearly dinner for the elderly of our church.  This past year ALIENS participated in the 30 Hour Famine to raise funds and awareness for World Hunger.  They raised $1413.

We meet twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, at 6:30 pm, to have fun, do Bible studies, do service projects, and be a witness to the people around us.   This year we are focusing on being a servant, following the example of Jesus.

An adult must always be present at the meetings.  Adults are required to complete training, acknowledge understanding of the policies and procedures, and are subject to a background check.

Update from the December Newsletter:

ALIENS –  We have had a lot of fun getting together for our meetings. Our lesson time has been spent on looking at what it means to be a part of Christ's church (we start with an opening activity that leads to the lesson). The first lesson was about the importance of each member being a part of the body of Christ (Eph.4:16). Our next lesson was about what the church has to offer each of us in the areas of worship, hearing the Word, Lord's Supper, fellowship, and missions.  Our last lesson was about how we must follow Jesus' servant attitude and work for His church. Our motivation should be our love for Jesus. As well as a lesson time, we also just have fun with a game or two so we can get to know each other better. The World Hunger project brought in a total of $438.34 from the bake sale and gifts in the offering.Thank-you for supporting this project. Our next project is cutting Christmas trees on December 6. If you would like a fresh cut tree, just purchase the permit, give it to a Warden, and the ALIENS will go cut it for you. Arrangements to get your tree can be made when we get your permit. We will be taking a break in December, due to the many school events that the ALIENS are involved in.
